Clarity Lesson — Beneath-the-Surface Goals Worksheet

A reflective lesson that walks students past surface-level goals to the deeper want underneath — a five-whys ladder, a 'subtract the obvious' prompt, and a clarified-vision block — pilots a career-clarity context but the pattern fits any 'what do you actually want' lesson.

Best for: Reflection-driven lessons that help students dig past surface goals (more money, new job, lose weight) to the deeper want — purpose, identity, freedom, meaning.

What it does

  • Surface-goal capture — opens by asking students to name the goal they've been telling everyone (and themselves)
  • Five-whys ladder — guides students through five rounds of 'why does that matter' to surface the underlying motivation
  • Subtract-the-obvious prompt — asks 'if money/status/approval weren't on the table, what would you still want?' to remove the noise
  • Forbidden-want block — a gentle prompt that names the wants we usually censor (too big, too small, too selfish, too soft)
  • Clarified-vision worksheet — a closing block where students write the want that's left in their own words
  • One-true-thing close — a final card asking students to pick the one true sentence that captures what they actually want

Best use cases

  • Career and professional coaching — clarifying the real career want beneath 'I want a new job'
  • Business and entrepreneurship — clarifying what founders actually want beyond revenue
  • Personal development and life coaching — values and purpose work for any major life decision
  • Health, fitness, and wellness — clarifying the deeper goal under a body-change goal
  • Relationship and family coaching — clarifying real wants in relationships, parenting, and life design

What you can change with your DNA

When you run this through the remix skill, your CCOS DNA — brand, voice, audience — drives these decisions automatically:

  • Colors — slots for page background, ladder-section accents (five subtle layers), prompt-block tints, vision-worksheet surface, and the one-true-thing close
  • Fonts — a quiet display font for the prompt headings and a comfortable body font for the ladder and worksheet text; choose a contemplative pairing
  • Copy — surface-goal capture prompt, five-whys ladder text, subtract-the-obvious prompt, forbidden-want prompt, vision-worksheet guidance, and the one-true-thing close
  • Images — quiet textured background or contemplative imagery in the hero, and any subtle illustrations between sections
  • Behavior — toggle whether ladder and worksheet answers save between sessions, whether the page exports as a PDF clarity sheet, and whether students can share their one-true-thing privately with a coach

How remixing works

From "swiped it" to "shipped it" in three steps.

02

Run it through your DNA

The remix skill uses your CCOS DNA to swap colors, fonts, copy, and structure so it lands as yours.
